Extract an Archive on GNOME

1. Open the overview and launch Files.

2. Find the archive you want to extract. Common archive formats include zip, tar.gz, and 7z.

3. Right-click on the file and select Extract.

Note

By default, the archive is extracted to the same folder the archive is in. If you want to extract the archive to a different location, select Extract to…, choose the location to extract to, then press Extract.
